Though not exactly large, the city of Moonrise is a mertropolis compared to the neighboring town of Summit. Inside the city there is plenty to do and lots to see, but perhaps the most interesting things are what you don't see.
For werewolves, vampires, dhampires, and all sorts of other creatures of myth, it is considerably difficult to stay hidden in this day and age. It is especially difficult when the people who hunted them centuries ago continue to carry on what to most is the family business.
Most tend to steer clear of the social activities that attract the mortals around them, but there are escapes from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. The city has a labrynth of dark alleys and abandoned warehouses that provide the needs of most.
There is one part of Moonrise that is best avoided, the barbwire lined buildings that rest outside the city. Owned by the military, this location is host to the highly secret organization called W.E.R.E. (Wolf Era Rebel Enforcement), a group that captures weres for government testing reasons, and don't make the mistake of thinking that all of it's members are humans...
If life in the big city doesn't suit, perhaps the town of Summit is a better speed. This old-timey, one horse tiown is rich in tradition and has for the most part entered the twenty-first century untouched, it doesn't even have a school, sending its children to recieve education in Moonrise. The "it" places around town include the movie theatre, diner, and collections of small shops and markets.
What attracts most of the tourist, though, it the beautiful Ookami-Otoko National Park. Though there are plenty of trails and campgrounds to please its visitors, most of the park is off-limits to protect the wildlife, or perhaps to protect the people from the wildlife.
For what ever the reason, it is clear that its name, which is Japanses for "wolf man," holds a mysterious meaning. The locals tell stories of monsters around their small town. With all of the strange occurances that go on, it is difficult to remain a skeptic.
Immortals are not without friends, however. Residing between these two locations is the headquarters of Novo, an organization as secret as W.E.R.E, but with different intentions. It is run by a group of non-conformist hunters, along side werewolves and other allies. They strive to protect both human and werewolf populations, ultimately from each other. Killing is not a goal, though it is not entirley avoidable.
What ever you decide to do, one thing is certain, it is not going to be easy to do without being discovered. Are you up for the challenge?
