On the fateful night, renown shadohunter, Jace Lightwood conquered the only dad that he had ever known: Valentine Morgenstern. Valentine's new world order consisted of every downworlder to be vanquished by his growing demon army. Vampires, werewolves, and all the faeries had to come together to stop him, but they couldn't do it alone. They needed to come together with, what they called the arrogant shadowhunters, but that all took work. With Clary's angelic powers she created a binding rune, a rune that would give you your partner's powers, and on the fateful night each downworlder and shawdowhunter paired up with one another and fought the demons. Many people died or were presumed dead, including Valentine's real son named Johnathen (a.ka. Sebastien) died in the battle

It's been 20 years since that epic night. The one that almost took everyone's life and had the potential to bring a new world order. Since Valentine has been taken down the downworlders and the shadowhunting community has been at ease, if only they knew what was to come.

In those 20 years Clary and Jace married and had a child, which they named Angel Herondale who is turning 14 soon, and training to be a shadowhunter. While it may seem to be all blissful to an outsider, Jace was hiding a dark secret through those 20 years. He is not sure what he did or saw that night. He is not sure whether or not he actually killed Sebastien all those years ago. All Jace knows, that if Sebastien is alive he would be bidding his time and demon powers until he is up to his full potential to strike. Jace deeply fears for Clary, but for Angel more. He knows, that being a stronger shadowhunter than himself and Clary she would be his target first, no matter what her age might be. So Jace is training her harder, earlier than most, and always is around, protecting her.
